The Krishi Vigyan Kendra came into existence at Shamakhunta in Mayurbhanj District on the year 2005 as per the sanction of ICAR vide letter No. 3-56-93-AE, dt. 19.05.2005. The organization caters to the need of the Mayurbhanj District located in the North central plateau Agroclimatic Zone of the State. The Kendra is functioning under the administrative control of the Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar and fully financed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. The aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to reduce the time lag between Generation of technology at the research institutions and it’s transfer to the farmer’s field for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis.
